▹▹ Personality

Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Meyers/Briggs Personality Type: ENTJ- The Commander
Commanders are natural-born leaders. People with this personality type embody the gifts of charisma and confidence, and project authority in a way that draws crowds together behind a common goal. However, Commanders are also characterized by an often ruthless level of rationality, using their drive, determination and sharp minds to achieve whatever end they’ve set for themselves. Perhaps it is best that they make up only three percent of the population, lest they overwhelm the more timid and sensitive personality types that make up much of the rest of the world – but we have Commanders to thank for many of the businesses and institutions we take for granted every day.

Passionate | Charismatic | Opportunistic | Spontaneous | Superstitious | Conniving | Selfish

The first thing one might notice about Rhodesna, is the charisma that seemingly radiates off of her.  The amused smile she almost always wears, is both intimidating and inviting.  Her demeanor reveals a calm and casual persona, but there's a hint of darkness that tells you she can switch effortlessly into a frenzied state.  Respect must be given for any chance at a friendly exchange.  Most who meet her will very quickly get the impression that she could be a fun friend to be around, but a terribly ruthless enemy if she ever felt slighted.

Rhodesna's current standing was not handed to her on a silver platter.  She worked hard and fought for her reputation and title.  Her passionate beliefs in her faith and person is what got her through her roughest patches and continue to push her forward.  However, it's her conniving nature that has truly allowed her to navigate Rogue politics as well as she has.  Though she appears to be laid back, Rhodesna is extremely goal oriented.  She's always working out an angle to get what she wants.  She's adaptable and very opportunistic, ready to change plans at the last minute if the situation calls for it.  This coincides with her tendency to follow her instincts and current interests, making her course of action quite spontaneous and unpredictable.

As a Captain, Rhodesna is a strong and inspiring leader.  Those under her can't help but feel like they are part of something great.  She's given her crew a clear purpose of keeping the other Rogues in line.  They are, in a way, the defender's of the Alliance.  To her crew, Rhodensa is not only their Captain, but their protector.

Rhodesna has a reputation as being the voice and the sword of the people.  She works hard to keep up her appearance as their selfless champion, but in actuality, all her efforts are for selfish reasons.  Self-preservation is Rhodesna's top priority.  Enforcing the law in an environment that is otherwise ruled by chaos, just happens to be the best way to ensure her own security.  She really has little empathy for others and is easily willing to make sacrifices to ensure a favorable outcome.

Other Notes:

  • Rhodesna is genetically susceptible to alcoholism.  She understands this to be attributed to her father, whom she knew to be a drunk, but it's very likely to have come from her mother's side as well.  Bumbos and Mimosas are her favorite but she isn't picky.  A regular pint of grog does the job just as well.
  • The majority of Rhodesnsa's life has been spent out as sea and all those years have conditioned her balance to the sway of the water.  As a result, stepping onto to the steadiness of earth is an uncomfortable experience for her. For this reason, Rhodesna will never stay on land for more time than is needed, and rarely sleeps anywhere but on her ship.
  • In areas where there is no large body of water, Rhodesna feels completely powerless.
  • She is pleasure seeking.  Indulges in recreational drugs, alcohol, casual sex, and other things that she considers luxurious.  Valore seems to have set those standards for her.
          Likes:
    • Freedom
    • Justice
    • Thunderstorms
    • Treasure
    • Power
          Dislikes:
    • Abrasive Authority
    • Threats to her values
    • Slavery
    • Disrespect
    • Small thinkers (people who can't see the "big picture")
    Drive:
Rhodesna's main drive is to live life fully in the way that she wants to.  To ensure this, she has acquired many other "sub-drives" to create a world in which she can best do this.  The biggest being the enforcement of the Rogue Code and the collection of wealth through trade.  A lesser example would be her dealings with smugglers to free slaves and relocate them.  This is not work she regularly partakes in because it threatens the stability of the Rogue Alliance that was was given with the trade agreement between the Aodh and Talori herds, but it is something she does occasionally for her own moral reasons.

▹▹ History

Summary:
Rhodesna is born on the Talori mainland to a poor family.  Her father is a kind but lazy agriculturalist and her mother is a shunned brewer. Mother dies in an accident while experimenting with potions when Rhodesna is only five.  Her father struggles to make ends meet, care for his daughter, and handle his grief in her absence.  He turns to alcohol for comfort but only manages to dig himself deeper into debt.  To escape persecution, the family of two sell themselves into indentured servitude.  They travel to the Isles of the Dead where Rhodesna's father could continue to nurse his alcoholism without the threat of more fines.  Father and daughter hop from place to place until they find seemingly more stable work aboard King's Fortune, a Rogue ship captained by a very charismatic man named Caspian.  However, once on the open ocean, Caspian is revealed to be extremely abusive to his indentured crewmen, basically treating them as slaves.  For twenty years, Rhodesna and her father are forced to work on his ship, until Rhodesna had enough and inspired a mutiny.  With the help of a freak storm, they take the ship, though her father and Caspian die in the process.  Triumphant, Rhodesna sails back to the Isles where she frees the other indentured servants and turns over Caspian's captured regular crewmen to the Keeper of the Code so that they could be tried for their crimes.  Keeper Atlas finds Rhodesna's prisoners to be justly apprehended and passes them onto the Talori government.  He also gives her permission to keep King's Fortune which she promptly renames StormchaserSome of the now free indentured servants choose to continue to follow Rhodesna. Their mission now is making up for time lost and ensuring the code is followed so that something like they had endured for so long never happens again.

Childhood:
Rhodesna's story begins in a little coastal Talorian village.  Her father, Costa, was an agriculturalist who came from a very large and very traditional Talori family.  He was the youngest of twelve children so there wasn't much left for his parents to give when it came time for him to leave home.  Costa's parents didn't think much of him anyways, he was lazy and unmotivated, but that changed to outright contempt when he decided to marry a Rogue.  At least that's what they thought she was, given her accent and manners.

Rhodesna's mother, Ellena, never revealed much about her past to anyone.  In fact, she acted as if she were trying to erase it or run from it.  Her work as a brewer and her new family were the only things that mattered.  Rhodesna doesn't remember much about her mother, since she accidentally poisoned herself while trying to create a new medicine when Rhodesna was only five, but there are a few things that stuck with her.  The first was that she always smelled of salt.  No matter what she did, where she went, or how many times she bathed, her mother always carried that familiar smell.  The second was, she was different.  Even though Rhodesna was young, she was old enough to notice that the other villagers treated her mother differently than they did each other or even her father, and that Ellena herself stood out from them.  The last thing was the immense love her mother had for life and adventure.  It was a love so powerful, that she managed to instill it into her daughter's heart despite the short time she had with her.

Ellena's death took a hard toll on both Rhodesna and Costa.  Costa took it especially hard.
He struggled to make ends meet, while caring for his daughter and handling his grief, in her absence.  He began to drink heavily, finding comfort in the numbness the alcohol gave him.  His family never came in to help.  Either Costa's pride kept him from reaching out or their shame kept them from stepping in, Rhodesna would never knew.  She just knew that they were poor and her father was only digging them deeper into his pit of misery.

Eventually things got bad enough that Costa decided selling himself and his daughter into indentured servitude was their only option.  Somehow they ended up on the Isles of the Dead.  Rhodesna remembered something her father said about visiting her mother's old house, but nothing seemed to come of it.  It must have been a lie to hide the true reason why they were there.  Rhodesna's father could continue to nurse his alcoholism without the threat of more fines on the Isles.  The rogues were free of that charge, unlike on the mainland.

For a few years, Rhodesna and Costa live among the Islanders picking up odd jobs where they could.  Little Rhodesna made the best of her situation and made lots of friends.  She thought the rogues were funny and mysterious.  They were like her mother times a thousand.  She loved them and every grand tale from a far off land or time
that spilled from their lips.
She did everything in her power to learn the ins and outs of this amazing world of the Rogue Alliance.

Early Teens:
Life was becoming relatively stable for Rhodesna but her father was going ever more off the deep end.  Few places would still allow him to work for them.  Their income was slowing down, they needed more work.  Costa discovered a seemingly stable and good paying job aboard King's Fortune, a Rogue ship captained by a very charismatic man named Caspian.  Over a night of drinking with Caspian's crew and other indentured servants that were excited for the opportunity, Costa signed both his and Rhodesna's contracts over to the good captain.

However, Caspian's and his jolly crew's demeanor completely changed once they
were on the open ocean.  They were manipulative and abusive frauds.  Rhodesna, her father, and the other indentured servants basically became slaves of the King's Fortune.

Teens - Young Adult:
For twenty years, Rhodesna and her father are trapped aboard the King's Fortune, and forced to do back breaking work.  Rhodesna becomes resentful of her situation, but still, she makes the best of it and she learns.  She learns about sailing, about the anatomy of the ship, about the ocean and the wind, about navigation, about brawling and navel battles, anything she could get some one to teach her or that she could observe, she learned.  The years made her stronger and she began to earn the respect of the other prisoners and even some of the crew.  The years also brought on more frustration.

She pitied her father more than she resented him.  Where she had grown tougher, he had only grown more empty.  He was only a shell of a man when Rhodesna decided it was time for a mutiny.  She could not take or watch the abuse anymore.

The odds were stacked heavily against the indentured servants who had to fight well practiced pirates.  However, a freak storm caught the entire crew by surprise, giving the mutineers the cover they need to take hold of the ship.  Rhodesna took it upon herself to face Captain Caspian.  After all, she was the most skilled out of all of them.  She fights well, managing to knock the captain's sword out of telekinetic grip but he met her with equal furiosity.  Using a wooden plank broken off the ship, he lands a critical blow to her face.  The wood cuts deep into her skin and she loses consciousness.  It all seemed lost.

But when she awakes, she is amazed to see her father taking on Caspian.  For less than a minute, they fight until Costa pulls them both overboard into the raging sea, so that he can save his daughter with the ultimate sacrifice.

With the captain dead, the fighting ends and the storm clears. Rhodes commands that the crew be tied up and sets a course for the Isles. Years ago, she had learned about the Keeper of the Code and that he had the power to punish Rogues and legally nullify the contracts Caspian's prisoners were fooled into signing.  She had to find him if she were to ever properly sort out this mess.

Once they made it to the Isles, it was fairly easy finding him.  After reviewing the story that was presented to him, Keeper Atlas found Caspian's death justified and his crew rightfully apprehended.  They had broken the code and so had to be struck from the Alliance and handed over to the Talorian authorities.  As for the indentured servants, their withheld wages were taken from the King's Fortune's reserve, consequently paying off their contracts.  Finally after more than twenty-five years, Rhodesna was free to live her own life.  Seeing that the King's Fortune was now without a captain, Atlas decides to pass the ship onto the woman who freed it.  Rhodesna leaps at the opportunity, seeing a chance at a new life.  She renames her ship  Stormchaser, in honor of the storm that lead her to victory.

Now she's building a crew and a new life.  Her mission is making up for time lost and ensuring the code is followed so that something like she had endured for so long never happens again.
